A true gamechanger

Gaming studio Runaway have their sights on becoming the #1 global brand for games inspired by nature. Their team approached us to create a new visual identity and website to support this mission.


With over 4 million downloads and a passionate community of gamers, one could argue they’re already a runaway success. However, there was a gaping disconnect between Runaway’s existing identity and brand, and their website had been left to gather dust as they focused their efforts on developing world class games.

In true collaborative fashion, we worked with Runaway to develop a creative strategy based on brand insights sourced from their team and community of players. This became our bible as we embarked on the design of a new identity.

A new identity

Our design challenge was to create a nature inspired identity with a playful feel, whilst also delivering on the simplicity and elegance Runaway desired. The identity needed to work harmoniously amongst Runaway game art in primarily digital/mobile environments.

Handcrafted lettering

Through concept designs we settled on a logotype approach for the Runaway identity. The handcrafted lettering is playful, graceful and inspired by elements of the natural world.

A mobile-first website

The majority of Runaways website visitors come to their site via mobile devices, so we designed the website from a mobile user perspective and developed for performance across smartphone and tablet devices.

Crafted code

We take advantage of modern browser technologies for an immersive and visually interesting experience. Behind the scenes we integrated Symphony CMS so Runaway’s team can easily edit their website content.
